I listen to Max Richter remixing vivaldi. It's incredible. Max richter is a genius. Did he play do the violin solos? No. But he decomposed then re-assembled it into a symphony. This is the job. Or at least it's the job of the composer. Not only to hear the vision, but to iterate from rough concept through to delivery. Taste is the driver of those iterations: a bit more crescendo here, pianissimo there, an extra beat here or pause there.
Increasingly we are composers. Or at least we can be if we want to. And the jobs available in the new economy will, I suspect, demand this of us. We will have the greatest mathematicians, software engineers, biologists and researchers literally under our command.
What will you do with this army? How will you improve your ability to manage such power?
